Catherine Haustein ’77, Author, to Speak at Central College’s Writers Reading

Central College will welcome Catherine Hinga Haustein, author, professor emerita of chemistry, freelance chemist and 1977 Central graduate, to the Fall 2023 Writers Reading. Haustein will read from her newest novel, “Snakes in the Class,” at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Boat and Moore Rooms, Maytag Student Center on Central’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Haustein has written several novels, including “Natural Attraction,” “Wolves and Deer: A Tale Based on Fact,” and three books in the Unstable States series: “Mixed In,” “Lost in Waste” and “Wrinkles in Spacetime.” She taught chemistry at Central for 39 years.

Geisler Library’s Writers Reading Series started in 1987 to promote an appreciation of books and their authors. It features locally, nationally and internationally known writers who read and discuss their works.
