Central College Music Performances Close Out the Semester

Central College’s performing arts will wrap up the spring semester with a variety of concerts and music performances including an ALMA concert, three senior recitals and a percussion extravaganza, along with others.

First up is the ALMA concert at 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, in Cox-Snow Recital Hall. Enjoy an hour filled with songs of different genres, sung by three of Central’s choir students and accompanied by piano, saxophone, bass and drums.

The following day, three senior recitals will be performed on Saturday, April 22, in Cox-Snow Recital Hall. The seniors who will be performing are Callie Clark at 1 p.m., Andrea Bogaard at 2:30 p.m. and Rylie Shettler at 4 p.m. Each of them has been working all semester in preparation for this day. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Percussion EXTRAVAGANZA will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in Douwstra Auditorium. This event will include performances from the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Flying Pans Steel Band and the Percussion Ensemble. Audience members can attend in person or watch on the Central Dutch Network.

Join the College Community Orchestra’s Spring String Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in Douwstra Auditorium. John Helmich, adjunct instructor of music, will conduct the orchestra.

Gabriel Espinosa, associate professor of music, will be releasing his latest CD on Thursday, May 4, and will host a special performance at 8 p.m. in Cox-Snow Recital Hall with a special guest performance from his ALMA students.

To wrap up the year, the Flying Pans Steel Band will perform at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 6, during Pella’s Annual Tulip Time Celebration in Pella Opera House.
