Central College’s Central RED Society will present “The Ninth Hour: Bringing Biblical Characters to Life,” with Valerie Van Kooten, 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. in the Dave and Ardie Sutphen Common Room, Graham Annex, on Central’s campus. The cost of lunch is $10.

The New Testament mentions — or implies — characters whose identities are never flushed out. “The Ninth Hour” by Van Kooten looks at some of these people who surely had been influenced by and influenced Jesus. Van Kooten will share perspective on these individuals.

Van Kooten is the executive director of Pella Historical Museums. She previously taught technical writing and was Central’s grant writer. She lives west of Pella with her husband, Kent, and is currently working on a children’s historical fiction book about the Indigenous people in the Pella area.
