Central College’s Department of Theatre will close their 2017-2018 mainstage season with Yasmina Reza’s God of Carnage, translated by Christopher Hampton, April 25-28, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kruidenier Theatre. Assistant professor of theatre Dr. C.D. Adamson directs this award-winning dark comedy that has become an international hit and a major motion picture.
Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, God of Carnage tells the story of two upper-middle-class New York couples who meet for an evening of civilized discussion after their children have had a playground fight that cost one of them some teeth. Violence, they want to show their children, is never the answer. But violence along with rage, hysteria, confrontation, and the stripped-bare fault lines of two relationships and four human beings are what they show their audience, and themselves, in 90 breathtaking minutes.
The cast includes Ben Rockswold as Alan Raleigh, Alexis Lotspeich as Annette Raleigh, Ryan Jones as Michael Novak and Jackee Jones as Veronica Novak.
Production assignments for God of Carnage include Jessica Popejoy-Geiken (set design), Ron Rybkowski (lighting design), Alexis Lotspeich (costume design), Taylor Dahlberg (stage manager) and Devin McCain (assistant stage manager).
Tickets for God of Carnage may be purchased at the Maytag Student Center information booth or at 641-628-9000. Alternatively, tickets will be available at the box office on evenings of performance.
