Christmas Candlelight Concerts in Pella and Des Moines

Central College’s annual Christmas Candlelight Concerts will take place Thursday, Dec. 7, in Des Moines and Friday – Saturday, Dec. 8 – 9, in Pella. The A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers, Hand Bell Choir and College Community Orchestra will perform.

The Dec. 8 – 9 concerts will start at 7:30 p.m. in Douwstra Auditorium. The Dec. 7 concert in Des Moines begins at 7:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Prior to the Dec. 8 – 9 performances there will be a dinner in the Graham Conference Center at 6 p.m.

“The Candlelight Concerts are one of the greatest and long-lasting traditions at Central College,” says Mark Babcock, associate professor of music and director of the A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers. “They help us celebrate and usher in this season of wonder, beauty, hope, light and joy. Our community is enriched by coming together to sing and listen to Christmas musical treasures.”

During the Friday, Dec. 8, concert, a special announcement will be made regarding the Douwstra Auditorium renovation project.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and free with a Central ID. Dinner tickets are separate and cost $15 per adult, $7.50 for children under 10 and free for children under 4. All tickets are available for purchase in the Cox-Snow Music Building from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or by phone at 641-628-5383. Tickets can also be reserved online.
