Central College welcomes nine new faculty members for fall 2016.

Nine new faculty members will join Central for the new academic year — experts in economics, history, kinesiology and more. Get to know our new professors below:

Michael (Cody) Huisman, assistant professor of exercise science

Cody Huisman earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Central College and Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He has taught at Central since 2012 and will be teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology/Human Anatomy and Kinesiology courses this fall.

 

 

Graham Lemke, Donald T. Butler Endowed Chair and professor of finance

Graham Lemke earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Alberta, master’s degree from Cornell University and doctorate degree in economics from Binghamton University. He will be teaching Principles of Microeconomics, Corporate Finance and Principles of Investment this fall.

 

 

Timothy Olin, assistant professor of history

Timothy Olin earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in German from University of Wisconsin, Madison, a master’s degree in history from Purdue University and a doctorate degree in history from Purdue University. He will be teaching World Civilization to 1500, The USSR and European History courses this fall.

 

 

Sarah Van Waardhuizen, instructor of music

Sarah Van Waardhuizen earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Drake University and a master’s degree from the University of Kansas. Van Waardhuizen is completing her doctorate dissertation in music education from the University of Iowa. She has taught at Central College since 2012 and will be teaching voice and music education courses this fall.

 

 

Jeana Clark, lecturer of business management

Jeana Clark earned bachelor’s degrees in international business management and German from Central College and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She will be teaching business management and marketing courses this fall.

 

 

Karen Cleveland, lecturer of psychology

Karen Cleveland earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Central College, a master’s degree in theology and psychology, and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She will be teaching General Psychology, Psychology of Personality, Psychopathology and Principles of Counseling courses this fall.

 

 

Kate Kanne, lecturer of theatre

Kate Kanne earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre from South Dakota State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in scene design from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She will be teaching Stage Management and Lighting Design courses this fall.

 


Brett Labbe, lecturer of communication studies

Brette Labbe earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Massachusetts, a master’s degree in mass communication research from the University of Colorado and a doctorate degree in media and communication from Bowling Green State University. He will be teaching Communication Theory and Public Speaking courses this fall.

 

Puneet Vishwakarma, lecturer of physics

Puneet Vishwakarma earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Mumbai, a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Central Florida. He will be teaching Fluid Mechanics this fall.
