Flying Pans concert travels through the jungle

October 22, 2012

The Central College Flying Pans Steel Band performs their first concert of the year, PANTIKI, on Oct. 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.

The band, directed by Stan Dahl, assistant professor of music, presents an island-jungle journey featuring Dahl’s original rock, soca, funk, reggae and Latin music intertwined with drums, lights and special effects.

Inhabitants of the mysterious island of PANTIKI go on a quest to save their island from an erupting volcano. The Flying Pans will travel deep into the rainforest as they perform their musical adventure.

“The infectious rhythms and music will make you want to drum and dance throughout the entire show!” said Dahl.

Tickets may be purchased at the Cox-Snow Music Center by calling 641-628-7520 or online at www.central.edu/finearts. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and students and free with a Central ID.
