Central faculty and students perform in variety show

October 2, 2014

Central College faculty and students will come together in a different setting from the classroom at 7 p.m. Oct. 10. In Central’s Upper Chapel, college President Mark Putnam, along with several faculty colleagues, will perform in song, comedy, lip-syncing and other hidden talents.

The Faculty and Student Variety Show is sponsored by the Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of associate professor of music Mitchell Lutch. There is no charge for admission, but audience members will be encouraged to make donations to support the group’s upcoming tour to Mexico in January.

Other faculty and students performing together are: Keith Jones as Master of Ceremonies, Josh Dolezal and Zane Peters, Paulina Mena, Oscar Reynaga and Zach Steward, Anne Petrie and Lexie Waymire, Mitch Lutch and Nathan Boertge, Megan Utterback, Jenner Lathrop, and librarian Kyle Winward with Dante Vitullo, Zane Peters and Chris Askren.

The wind ensemble’s Mexico tour will include stops in Merida, Playa del Carmen and Cancun. In addition to sight-seeing and performing, students will benefit the Yucatan Youth Music program by donating instruments, lesson books and instrument accessories to underserved students. If you have any music donations you wish to make, contact Mitch Lutch at lutchm@central.edu or (641) 628-5238.
