Central College celebrates homecoming, study abroad anniversary

August 22, 2014

Registration is now open for alumni, family and friends of Central College to attend homecoming Oct. 3-5. Guests of all ages can participate in events from Friday’s annual Schipper Memorial Golf Tournament to Saturday’s carnival and tailgate lunch. On Saturday, the Dutch will face Wartburg in a 1 p.m. football game.

Unique to this year’s homecoming is the 50th anniversary celebration of Central College Abroad. Reunions will be held across campus for alumni of all study abroad locations.

Guests will also be able to visit the newly renovated Maytag Student Center, which includes a new workout facility and the Central Spirit Shoppe.

Central campus traditions like the Lemming race, street festival and class photos will also feature in this year’s homecoming weekend. The Lemming race, in which students race to the campus pond in costume, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday.

On Sunday, alumni of the A Cappella Choir and Flying Pans are invited to participate in music events with their respective groups. Also, the current A Cappella Choir and Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present a free concert at 1:30 p.m. in Douwstra Auditorium.
