Central alum and poet Curtis Bauer featured at Writers Reading

Poet and 1992 Central College graduate Curtis Bauer will read from his poetry and translations at the Writers Reading program Oct. 24.

Bauer has won the John Ciardi Poetry Prize for his first poetry collection, “Fence Line,” in 2004. Bauer’s most recent collection of poetry, “The Real Cause for Your Absence was published in the spring of 2013.

He has been a finalist for the New Letters Poetry Prize, the Willis Barnstone Translation Prize and the Glimmer Train Poetry Open.

Bauer has also translated Spanish prose and poetry from countless Spanish and South American writers. In addition to writing poetry, Bauer teaches creative writing and translation at Texas Tech University. He is also the publisher of “Q Ave Press Chapbooks.”
