Book artist displays work in Mills Gallery

February 5, 2014

Book artist Peggy Johnston will be on campus on Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. for an artist talk and reception at the Mills Gallery.

A graduate of University of Wyoming, Johnston now teaches at the Des Moines Art Center and travels to public schools as a visiting artist, working with both adults and children. She is also the owner of Waveland Studio in Des Moines, which both produces books and sells other artists’ books.

Johnston is a founder of The Prairie Book Collaborative, which is dedicated to all forms of books. To date, she has created almost 1,500 pieces of book art.

A portion of Johnston’s work will be on display at the Mills Gallery from Feb. 19-March 14. The exhibit, as well as the artist talk and reception, is free and open to the public.
