Former national spokesperson Tommy Vietor to speak at Central College

Central College will host its first Gaard scholar-in-residence, Tommy Vietor, to discuss the importance of global citizenship from Oct. 8-10. Vietor’s 7 p.m. address on Oct. 9 will be open to the public in the Cox-Snow Recital Hall.

Central College will host award-winning author Chitra Divakaruni Sept. 24-26. Divakaruni’s keynote address, “My Amazing Journey,” is open to the public at 11 a.m. on Sept. 25 in Douwstra Auditorium.


Students volunteer to clean Lake Red Rock

Central College will host its first volunteer event of the year Sept. 6 at Lake Red Rock. Students will gather trash, plant trees and collect prairie seed to help the Red Rock Lake Association.

Hundreds of students to visit Central College during Iowa Private College Week

Iowa Private College Week (IPCW) will bring hundreds of high school students and parents to visit Central College in the first full week of August.


Central College receives grant to train high school teachers

Central College has been awarded a share of a $600,000 grant from the Iowa Department of Education for the next three years. The grant will fund a collaborative project between Central College and Drake University to train high school math teachers from low-income areas.


New honor society chapter opened at Central College

Central College joins Alliance for Resilient Campuses

Central College President Mark Putnam recently signed the Alliance for Resilient Campuses (ARC) statement of purpose, an initiative of nonprofit Second Nature.
